Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a full coverage cap placed over the entire tooth surface to restore its shape, size, strength and /or appearance. Crowns are used:

  • When a filling is too large for the tooth to support
  • To protect a cracked or broken tooth
  • To cover a tooth with a root canal

Porcelain crowns are used mostly in adult dentistry. In Pediatric dentistry, due to grinding and the high amount of force placed on the posterior teeth, most doctors do not recommend porcelain crowns. instead, Stainless Steel crowns are what is usually recommended if a need for crown is calling.

Stainless Steel is one of the most neutral and oral cavity friendly materials that can protect a tooth from further cavitating and breaking down, and creates a solid chewing surface for the opposite teeth to lay on.
