Pediatric Sedation Dentistry
For some people, a trip to the dentist is a very stressful time. Dental phobia and fear of pain are not uncommon in dental patients. For people who need help relaxing in the dentist chair, sedation dentistry is available.
- Mild Conscious Oral sedation. Taken the day of the appointment, on an empty stomach, can assist patients in relaxing through the dental procedure.
- Nitrous oxide. “Laughing gas” is inhaled through a mask to relax, with a local anesthetic used to create a comfortable atmosphere through the time of the treatment.
- IV sedation. This effective, safe method, normally monitored by an anesthesiologist, causes little or no discomfort and often little or no memory of the procedure.
